Pediatric Chiropractic FAQs

Is chiropractic safe for infants and children?+

Yes — when performed by a chiropractor trained in pediatric techniques. For infants, Dr. Britt uses fingertip pressure only — no thrusting or manipulation. The force used on an infant is comparable to the pressure you'd use to check the ripeness of a tomato. For older children, technique is scaled to their size and development.

How young is too young for chiropractic?+

There is no minimum age. Our youngest patient was 24 hours old. Many parents bring newborns in within the first week of life, particularly if the birth was long, involved instrumentation (forceps, vacuum), or if the baby is showing signs of torticollis or feeding difficulty.

My child doesn't have pain — why would they need chiropractic?+

Children rarely complain of pain the way adults do, but they accumulate physical stress through falls, carrying heavy backpacks, sports, and posture habits that can create dysfunction before pain shows up. Regular chiropractic care for kids is about keeping their growing bodies moving well — preventive care, not crisis care.
