Chiropractic Adjustments
Chiropractic is a non-invasive healthcare model that focuses its treatment around spinal manipulation or the chiropractic "adjustment". The manipulation or adjustment of spinal joints allows for more motion within the joint and is typically done with a chiropractor's hands. The doctors can also utilize an Activator for a more gentle technique. Those who receive spinal manipulation can experience symptoms such as relief of pain, increased motion, and more!
Throughout the day, our bodies and joints experience various postures, loads, and stress. These loads and stresses put our joints under tension and can sometimes cause the joints to become dysfunctional and become "fixed" or not move as they are supposed to. As chiropractors, we perform spinal manipulation or adjustments to areas of the spine whose joints lack mobility.
There are a variety of chiropractic techniques out there, and through their education, We here at Twin Tiers Chiropractic & Wellness are up-to-date with the latest chiropractic techniques. We also recognize that never every patient will respond the same to every technique. We have been trained in a variety of different techniques in order to get you feeling better.
Chiropractic Adjustments
Spine Manipulation is done when a thrust is given to the area of a restricted (fixed) spinal joint. This aims to free up a motion is the joint and allow you to move freely and without pain or less pain.
Joint manipulation can also be performed on extremities such as the wrists, shoulders, ankles, and more! The goal with extremity joint manipulation is very similar to that of manipulation of the spine. We want to increase motion in joints that lack proper motion.
The doctors may ask you to lie on your back, side, stomach, or be seated. The doctors want to ensure your comfort and safety and will talk you through the process.
What Do Chiropractors Do?
A chiropractic adjustment, in our opinion, is the most effective treatment for restricted joints (also known as manipulation or mobilization).
Contrary to popular belief, chiropractic adjustments can be applied to any joint in the body to relieve pain, not just back discomfort. Inefficient joint mobility can make it harder for the body to move as a whole, which can lead to discomfort and/or tissue injury.
Chiropractic adjustments safely and effectively regulate general body movement and restore motion to restricted joints.
A quick, precise push is applied to the joint while also positioning the body in a way that allows for the required mobility. Adjustments from a chiropractor are generally highly effective at reducing pain and enhancing athletic performance.
What makes chiropractic care different from other treatment methods?
Chiropractic care attempts to treat the source and not just the symptoms.
Chiropractic care can help by addressing the cause of the issue while shots, muscle relaxants, and painkillers may merely treat the symptoms of the condition. When pain is addressed at its source, the likelihood of developing such symptoms later decreases.
It would be similar to removing the battery from a smoke alarm because you don't like the sound, but the fire would still be burning, if you only paid attention to the symptoms. Chiropractic care offers considerably more effective alternatives.
Chiropractic doctors have received specialised training in both spinal manipulative therapy and exercise/rehab. This addresses movement dysfunction while also shoring up, stretching, and strengthening the frame's support structures.
What Does A Chiropractor Treat?
A chiropractor can provide relief for sprains, aches, and pains. A chiropractor can provide you non-drug treatment choices if you have a problem with your musculoskeletal system.
A chiropractor may offer the following types of treatment:
Adjustments: By gently realigning joints, you can lessen pain and widen your range of motion. Soft-tissue therapy: To ease tension in the connective tissue that surrounds each muscle and to minimise muscular spasms (fascia). Stretching and exercise: To maintain and restore joint mobility and stability. Joint bracing or taping (Kinesio taping): To support injured muscles or joints throughout their healing process. Referrals to professionals in integrative medicine In order to reduce inflammation and/or encourage healthy eating to lose weight, consult a dietitian or nutritionist.
Chiropractic care for back pain.
Low back pain (LBP) and chiropractors are frequently associated, and for good reason.
LBP is a major contributor to disability and high healthcare costs in our society. One of the main risk factors for the onset and progression of low back degeneration is joint dysfunction in the lower back.
Fortunately, chiropractors use spinal manipulation, exercise, and targeted patient education to treat these joints according to scientific evidence. Most individuals experience less pain after their initial appointment.
Chiropractic Care For Nagging Neck Pain
The second most frequent cause for patients to visit a chiropractor is neck pain.
The most frequent behaviours that cause a stiff or sore neck include changes to daily routines, postural stressors, and workstation ergonomics.
A person may feel restricted joints and decreased range of motion if neck stiffness is not treated. For these kinds of neck discomfort, chiropractic manipulation of the spine has unparalleled success and safety.
The combination of manipulation, exercise, and posture reeducation frequently results in rapid symptom relief.

Your chiropractor will take their time to get to know you and your particular pain situation.
To fully understand your illness, they will interview you, examine you physically, and sometimes order imaging. Your pain is multifaceted and impacts many aspects of your life; hence, your treatment strategy should be as well.
In order to address all of the postures, activities, interests, and stresses that might be contributing to your persistent pain, a chiropractor will carefully design a care plan.
